I’m so proud to be a Hoosier alumni and former student-athlete for the greatest university in the nation. It’s a feeling that really can’t be matched; a feeling of togetherness, intensity and drive. No matter how this Sweet Sixteen game tonight plays out - I would never want to root for any other team other than the cream and crimson! I admire Tom Crean for all that he’s done to revitalize the Indiana basketball program and I admire the players for persevering and fighting through all the negative doubters along the way. “They” predicted a UK win before and were wrong.

Let’s go HOOSIERS!

Bracket picks: head or heart?

I was listening to the radio this morning on my way to work and they were talking about how to pick your bracket for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Do you pick your team, the one closest to your heart, to beat every opponent they face and take it all; or do you think realistically and pick the teams that have been sitting at the top of the rankings all season to have a better chance at winning your office or family pool? Of course, my heart wants to believe that IU has the ability to go all the way this year. They did beat #1 Kentucky and #2 Ohio State, along with turning in some other impressive upsets, but do they have what it takes after being out of the “dance” for so long to step up in the spotlight? I’d personally like to think so … but I’m likely only accompanied by other IU alums and current students in my thinking. What about Norfolk State fans? Norfolk State is ranked 15 in the West region and naturally has a near impossible lineup of teams to beat to go all the way. Do those fans have their Spartans as 2012 champs? Hmm … doubtful outcome.

Solution: submit multiple brackets. This is one of the few things in life where you can please your head and your heart. You keep your loyalty, and possibly win some money along the way.
