Homeowners for a Year!

Today marks the one year anniversary of Chris and I being home owners! Time has certainly flown by. Reminiscing on March 8, 2011 I remember taking a half day from work, meeting Chris at our old apartment and driving to the bank to go through the formal closing procedure. A million signatures later, the selling agent handed us a packet with keys and we were out the door and on our way to walk into what we “owned” but hadn’t paid for yet. A pretty strange feeling really. After a quick and giddy look through we popped a bottle of champagne and took in the moment. Then, we did what any homeowner would do … we headed straight for Home Depot! I think the total count that night was three trips back to Home Depot because we forgot just one more thing.

So, one year later the inside of our house is kinda/sorda painted, semi furnished and lacks landscaping! It doesn’t sound like it but we actually have done a lot, and in my opinion our house looks awesome, but we definitely have a long way to go. I don’t have enough room my hands to count how many people told us that it doesn’t need to be done overnight, and I guess we took it to heart. Our bank account can’t support our taste just yet anyway.

So … here’s to Chris and me and one very happy year of owning a home together!

Here’s a shot last year at Christmastime! If this doesn’t make me feel like an adult, I don’t know what does.
