Gettin' Down for the Derby!
Since Chris is from Louisville and we can’t make it back to his “Old Kentucky Home” for the greatest two minutes in sports this year, we are bringing the Kentucky Derby to Raleigh, N.C.! We are hosting a Derby party and my mind is already spinning on all the fun ways to spice up the day with all things Kentucky.
Without giving away too much (wouldn’t want to spoil any...

Why Should 2011 Have All the Fun??
Last year brought endless change and milestone markers for Chris and me. New house, a new marriage, new jobs for both of us and a new puppy. Well why not shake it up again, right? I recently accepted a job offer with a digital marketing agency in downtown Raleigh to work on the project management team. The agency’s biggest clients are IBM and Google. I am thrilled for the opportunity and...

Bracket picks: head or heart?
I was listening to the radio this morning on my way to work and they were talking about how to pick your bracket for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Do you pick your team, the one closest to your heart, to beat every opponent they face and take it all; or do you think realistically and pick the teams that have been sitting at the top of the rankings all season to have a better chance...

Homeowners for a Year!
Today marks the one year anniversary of Chris and I being home owners! Time has certainly flown by. Reminiscing on March 8, 2011 I remember taking a half day from work, meeting Chris at our old apartment and driving to the bank to go through the formal closing procedure. A million signatures later, the selling agent handed us a packet with keys and we were out the door and on our way to walk into...

Dogs that put a smile on my face ...
Try to read this post and not smile. I dare you. :-)
Finally, we found out who did it.
They always want to save the world, or at least save your bad day.
They never mean any harm … they are just “interested”.
Even the biggest ones are big babies, which is the same for people too!
They are your best buddies.
And of course … my little love who always...

A Song for my Sister
This past weekend my sister Marley got married. She was stunning. Everything about her wedding was more beautiful than words can say. She went with the vintage/rustic route and it all fit in place that evening perfectly. Here’s a fun picture of my sister and all of her bridesmaids on the grounds of the reception venue.
Anyway, I was one of Marley’s Matrons of Honor. Since all of...

Giving Thanks ...
I’ve been reading on Facebook and in blogs what everyone is and has been thankful for with the holiday season upon us, and so naturally I’ve been thinking about all that I appreciate in my life. Instead of detailing each and every thing that makes me smile from day to day I decided to make a list. I’m sure I’m missing many, many things but it’s a start and...

Year of Change
This year will go down as a year of change for me … big change, and lots of it. Generally speaking, it has all been change for the good. Better yet, change for the great. My life has flipped, turned, spun and is teetering back and forth right now about to settle down. At least I think so.
First, I started the year off engaged and in the midst of wedding planning. That was a whirlwind in itself....

The Best of Me
No, not ME. It’s Nicholas Sparks’ new book - The Best of Me. It hits stands on October 11 but THIS GIRL pre-ordered a copy today and I’m thrilled for it to be delivered. I get lost in his books, and they are always great companions on the elliptical at the gym. Nothing screams a good workout more than a casual elliptical ride after work with a good book open and Dr. Phil on the...

October - the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
October is great for so many reasons. First of all, October in North Carolina … enough said. B-E-A-utiful. It’s reason enough to live here.
Secondly, it’s MLB playoff time! What a string of games the other night to determine who’ll come out on top for the Wild Card picks! I didn’t have anything on the line being a Yankees fan but it was kind of nice seeing the Red...

Holiday Decorating is Fun When You Own a Home
Chris (my husband) and I bought our first home in March of this year. Before that, we lived in a couple apartments in Raleigh. It’s tough to decorate an apartment. You don’t have a lot of room to elaborate and there isn’t much opportunity to experiment … besides, you DO want your security deposit check back. Apartment living is cramped and the holidays quickly pass by, at...
